The 93 km-long Dolon Pass – Char Pass section of the Bishkek – Torugart Road, has deteriorated in parts as a result of overloaded vehicles and severe weather conditions, as well as inadequate maintenance. The project will therefore:

  • realign and reconstruct the road section in order to accommodate heavier vehicles and improve drivers’ visibility;
  • carrying out of flood protection measures, such as construction of ditches, concrete pipes and culverts;
  • installation of traffic and road safety devices installed;
  • procurement of maintenance equipment.
The newly rehabilitated road will help enhance trade and flow of passenger and freight traffic between Kyrgyz and neighboring Kazakhstan and China.
