The project aims at empowering the rural poor to participate more effectively in the country’s development and improve their income-generating abilities. Another aim is to reduce gender disparities in economic activities. Activities will include:
- provision of workshops and training programs to farmers and community-based organizations;
- provision of labor skills training to the landless and impoverished young men and women;
- establishment of a Productive Investment Fund to teach low-income farmers enhanced irrigation and cultivation techniques;
- development of business plans to support rural entrepreneurship;
- establishment of a dedicated fund to help financial intermediaries expand their services to the target population;
- implementation of institution strengthening and capacity building measures.
