The Pacific Healthy Islands Transformation (PHIT) Project aims to tackle the health challenges faced by Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS) by reforming and modernizing medical services; enhancing workforce capabilities; strengthening health promotion; revamping overseas patient referral schemes and leveraging digital health solutions in Fiji, Kiribati, Tonga, and Tuvalu. The Project’s regional spillovers will also benefit other Pacific SIDS including Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. On March 24, 2025, the OPEC Fund received an official request from the government of Fiji to finance PHIT Project activities carried out in Fiji. The OPEC Fund is co-financing the Project operations in Fiji along with the World Bank Group (WBG), represented by International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA) as well as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Pandemic Fund.
