The primary goal of the project is to raise living standards and improve health by providing access to safe drinking water and sanitation in impoverished areas in and around the capital Ouagadougou. Works to be carried out include:

  • increasing storage capacities and constructing new pumping stations between the Ziga dam and Ouagadougou
  • reinforcing and extending the water distribution network
  • installation of new connections and standpipes
Water production capacity is expected to increase by 90,000 m3/day, thereby benefiting approximately 2.2 million people.
