This assessment project upon the request of Ministry of Energy in Bolivia was co-financed by OFID through the OFID/CAF Technical Assistance Facility Agreement dated October 12, 2012. The general objective of the study Hydroelectric Power Potential of Bolivia was to determine the zones in Bolivia that have hydroelectric potential to exploit, as well as to determine the potential locations Monitoring and Progress Report OPEC Fund/CAF for the development of projects suitable for electric generation, through the construction of small, medium and large-scale hydroelectric plants. The activity included two phases: (i) Developing a database using satellite technology to identify remaining hydroelectric potential; (ii) Optimizing the use of watersheds to identify sites and develop a portfolio of feasible hydropower projects to be developed. The study calculated the remaining usable technical potential 38.2 GW. Noting that a portfolio of 256 projects was found, of which 10 priority project profiles were drawn up.
