The Kakenya Center for Excellence in Kenya has been selected as one of the recpients of the 2014 OFID Annual Award for Development. The Center seeks to empower and motivate young girls through education and to break the cycle of destructive cultural practices, like early marriage and childbirth, lack of health education and understanding of their legal rights, particularly with regard to female genital mutilation.
