This loan will support a project to install a total of 211 km of on and off-shore gas pipeline in the southeast of the country. The pipeline will pass through the industrial city of Gabes (enabling a number of local industries to connect to the network), continue southeast to Zarzis city, and subsequently loop back to Jerba Island. The network will have the capacity to deliver 300 million m3 of fuel per year and will be particularly beneficial to the large number of hotels in Zarzis city and Jerba Island, which are popular tourist destinations. Connections will also be made available to Zarzis and Jerba residents.
