This project will focus activities in N'Bout, Kankossa and Ould Yenge. Works will include:

  • institution strengthening and capacity building across all sectors;
  • upgrading of basic infrastructure such as roads, schools and health and sanitation facilities;
  • rehabilitation of agricultural land;
  • erosion control and soil conservation measures;
  • provision of literacy courses to some 14,000 people, half of them women;
  • sensitization campaigns covering topics such as preventative health care, hygiene, and sanitation; and
  • establishment of micro-credit institutions to assist landless individuals and women in setting up their own small businesses.
An estimated 150,000 people are expected to benefit from the project.
