The project consists of:
- establishment of pilot pastoral cooperative associations;
- strengthening of public livestock services through the rehabiliation of infrastructure, provision of equipment and training of staff;
- establishment of livestock production systems;
- technical assistance;
- establishment of Production Improvement Fund to encourage self-help among farmer's groups;
- construction of a new abbatoir in Nouakchott; and
- establishment of a Livestock Fund.
