This project will replace a highway linking Shurabad to Shagon to replace an existing stretch that becomes easily blocked by heavy snowfall and avalanches, cutting off access for at least two months of the year. The area also becomes impassable in the warmer months due to frequent landslides caused by snowmelt and rainfall. This will entail:
- construction of an all-weather 39 km highway;
- carrying out of erosion-reducing measures by stabilizing slopes;
- installation of drainage works to prevent flooding;
- construction of nine bridges; and
- purchased of road maintenance equipment.
