Works will include construction of a regulatory dam in the Djenne region that will have an annual capacity of some 300 million cm3 and a water regulator located on the Sankarani River. These, along with irrigation works will be used to develop around 32,300 hectares of agricultural land, which will be used for rice and animal feed cultivation, as well as fish farming. At least 130,000 smallholder farmers are expected to benefit from the project.
