Holcim Limited, the second largest global cement producer in the world, owns controlling shares in Garadagh Cement and is over-seeing a project that will modernize and expand the Garadagh plant to increase production and reduce carbon emissions. OFID's support of the project will help facilitate the development of the private sector in Azerbaijan and attract other investors via the demonstration effect. The addition, the expanded facilities are expected to create a significant number of job opportunities for the local population.
