Health Sector Modernisation Project

Peru

The project will focus on improving mother and child health and reducing the incidence of communicable diseases. To achieve these goals, activities will include:

• rehabilitation and upgrading of primary health care facilities in 14 of Peru’s most under-served departments;
• provision of free pre- and postnatal care and activation of a system for monitoring children’s health;
• provision of additional staff training;
• establishment of health and hygiene campaigns; and
• carrying out of around 80 sub-projects, including the construction or renovation and equipping of hospitals and health centers.
