The project constitutes the first stage of a long-term master plan designed to meet the potable water requirements in Greater Aden until the year 2000. Greater Aden is currently supplied with water from some 50 wells sunk in the Wadi Turba Aquifer. The project's basic objectives are to eliminate the current deficit in water supply to Greater Aden and to rehabilitate the existing water supply system.
