The aim of this project was to satisfy the need for potable water in Syria’s second largest city, Aleppo, and surrounding areas. By expanding an existing water treatment station, replacing old pumps with new, high capacity units, constructing a 62 km-long aqueduct and replacing some 200 km of deteriorated pipelines, the project increased the average per capita water supply to about 200 liters per day.
