Energy Development and Access Program

This project aims at providing underserved areas with an affordable, reliable source of electricity. This will be achieved though the following:

implementation of a pilot scheme in the capital Maputo to test a lower voltage network for potential use in other areas;
rehabilitation of the primary distribution network network;
upgrading substations in Matola and Chimoi;
extension of the distribution network in peri-urban sites at Matola, Nampula, Chimoi,Tete and Pemba;
installation of customer connections;
implementation and/or scaling up of small- and medium-sized investments in renewable energy sources; and
institution-strengthening and capacity-building measures.
