The OPEC Fund's emergency assistance supported the Government in its efforts to alleviate the plight of the affected population by providing urgently needed food and medical supplies to help relief the suffering of drought victims in pastoral regions of Ethiopia. The grant was specifically used to cover the purchase of 760 MT of maize procured locally as well as costs for packing and transportation to the affected areas in Ethiopia.
