Tajikistan’s important highway which links the capital Dushanbe to Darband on the Kyrgyz border has deteriorated substantially. The project will therefore conduct the following:

  • rehabilitation of approximately 150 km of the two-lane highway;
  • repair and strengthening of embankments;
  • installation of bridge protection structures against avalanches and landslides;
  • installation of drainage systems and road safety features;
  • improvedment of around 77 km of rural feeder roads.
The newly renovated roads will bring numerous benefits to the rural poor by facilitating access to social services and marketplaces.
