The project will construct a storage dam and irrigation system for 42,000 ha in the south-western part of Vietnam. Two crops of paddy will be grown on 31,000 ha and three groundnut crops on the remaining 11,000 ha. Project works include the construction of an earth dam on the Saigon River with storage of 1,000 m3and a gravity irrigation system for the area concerned. Provisions are made for equipment and vehicles as well as training of personnel. The project will benefit directly some 120,000 people abd result in the creation of around 26,000 jobs.
