This loan will be used to complement rehabilitation and expansion works on the CA-5 North Road, which was covered under an earlier OFID co-financed project approved in 2004. The project will construct two additional bypasses at the Comayagua Valley section of the CA-5, which will provide access to La Paz and the Palmerola Airport.
The new bypasses will not only enhance road safety but will also bring positive economic benefits to Honduras as they connect to important production, industrial and service areas. In addition, the Palmerola bypass will gain strategic importance as Government plans on upgrading the airport to international standards in the near future.
