The project will help unlock the economic potential of remote rural communities by facilitating the transport of people and goods and by constructing socio-economic infrastructures. It will improve the rural dwellers’ quality of life by facilitating access to basic social services, creating jobs and fostering income growth. Works to be carried out include

  • improvement of 875 km of roads
  • maintenance of 5,000km or roads countrywide
  • local capacity building
  • construction of multi-purpose platforms, rural markets, health clinics, storage facilities and market gardening schemes
On completion, the project will improve the accessibility of some 187 remote rural communities, create 2,000 jobs and provide training to approximately 3,700 rural dwellers.
