Roads are an important means of transportation in Cao Bang province, where most of the population earn a living from agriculture and forestry, but isolation and limited access to markets constrain earning potential. The planned project road will link the districts of Ha Quang, Thong Nong and Bao Lac. The road presently is too narrow to carry motorized vehicles. Under the project, the following works will be carried out:
- widening and re-surfacing of the 67.5 km-long road to all-weather standard;
- construction of culverts to prevent flooding;
- construction of 10 bridges.
