The total cost of the first phase of the project was US$450,000. The purpose of the project was to help identify and promote investments in biomass gasification technologies that effectively utilize energy waste biomass materials in developing countries. Nine existing power gasifiers were selected for this program in Burundi, Mali and the Seychelles, which benefited from the OPEC Fund's grant.
