ARABTERM: The Arabic Technical Terminology Dictionary

The purpose of this project is to establish an online technical dictionary to level out different Arabic dialects because it offers officially recognized terminology that has undergone verification by the Arab League Education, Culture and Science Organization ALECSO. The online dictionary benefits a broad audience in the Arab Region, including teachers within the academic, vocational and training sector; technical specialists and executive managers; technicians and engineers; as well as education planning specialists. It also caters to the needs of students, apprentices and trainees, linguists and translators, technical journalists within and beyond universities and industries. The funds provided by OFID enabled the extension and completion of the two volumes “Water Technology” and “Renewable Energies”, on the online dictionary www.arabterm.org, and in particular the extensive revisions allowed presenting the most thoroughly revised and most thoroughly researched terminology dictionary of its kind, in four languages. The terminological data was finalized on 08 November, partly uploaded on 11 November 2016, and fully uploaded on 30 November 2016.
