This project involves upgrading the country’s air transport sector by expanding and improving the existing infrastructure. Works will include:

  • construction of a runway;
  • completion of five new taxiways;
  • modernization of navigational and communications systems; and
  • implementation of safety measures.
Passenger handling capacity will be thus raised to meet future demand, which is expected to increase sevenfold by 2005.
