The World Petroleum Council (WPC) organized and held a World Petroleum Congress in Johannesburg, September 25-29, 2005, under the theme “Shaping the Energy Future: Partners in Sustainable Solutions”. Over 5,000 attended including 3,500 executives and over 300 students engaged in petroleum related studies worldwide. The OPEC Fund extended a grant to the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) to sponsor three students from OPEC member countries to attend the 18th World Petroleum Congress.
