The grant was extended in support of the Islamic Academy of Sciences-sponsored Twelfth Conference on “Bridging the Science Divide” which was held from October 14-17, 2002, in Islamabad, Pakistan. The conference allowed over one hundred scientists to discuss the subject of materials science and technology, highlighting, in particular, the influence of materials on healthcare, environment, communications and education.
