This project aims at enhancing the safety and efficiency of air travel and help promote tourism, which will have a significant impact on the country’s economy. The project will promote the creation of jobs both during and after the project’s implementation. Under the project, a new international airport capable of accommodating up to one million passengers annually (as of 2018) will be constructed. OFID's funding will be specifically used for the construction of airside pavement areas, which will include the runway, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, lighting, track sanitation, service roads, hydrants network and fences.
