This project will construct a new road to reduce congestion in and around the capital Port Louis and provide an alternative, swifter route. Construction of the Terre Rouge Verdun Ebene Road will be undertaken in two, simultaneous phases; OFID’s loan will finance Phase II, which will involve construction of a 10.85 km dual carriageway between Verdun to Trianon and Verdun-Valentina. The new road will reduce travel time and vehicle operating costs and open up access to key agricultural areas, as is passes through land under sugarcane cultivation.
