The key objective of this action include long term capacity building to create a cadre of renewable energy experts to meet the energy challenges of Jamaica and the region, and to support the proliferation of renewable energy. It is expected that this project will enable students and energy practitioners to benefit from a hands-on training on renewable energy at facilities and labs not available elsewhere in the country, as it has both the actual utility scale wind farm as well as lab models for different renewable energy technologies. More than 800 persons are to be trained by and exposed to the program over its duration of three years.
