The Singrobo–Yamoussoukro road, which constitutes part of the 650 km-long Abidjan–Ouangolo route, is a key north-south link and the sole transport corridor to landlocked Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. The road can no longer handle increasing traffic loads and has worn to a point where some sections are made impassable during the rainy season. The project will therefore entail:
- construction of a new 86 km-long highway between the southern districts of Taabo and Toumodi;
- construction of bridges;
- installation of drainage structures and culverts to prevent flooding; and
- carrying out of erosion protection measures.
