To promote the socio-economic development of Bangladesh by increasing domestic and regional trades through the expansion of the national and regional transport systems. Works will include upgrading of 70 km of the Joydebpur-Chandra-Tangail-Hatikamrul Road, part of the Dhaka-Northwest Corridor, to a four-lane highway; and two landports in Benapole and Burimari; and, a land acqusition and resettlement scheme. The project is expected to help reduce poverty for some 6.9 million people through the improved access to jobs and social services, as well as transport of inputs and agricultural goods.
