This project will provide nearly 10,000 unconnected households in over 34 rural towns with electrical power. These households are presently reliant on biomass for energy generation, which is both polluting and hazardous to health. In addition, government centers, businesses, health centers and other social infrastructure will be provided with basic electricity services. This will improve living conditions and incomes and help develop local businesses. The project will also reduce time spent collecting firewood, a chore usually reserved for women and children.
