This project aims at improving basic sanitary conditions in the Panama City and Bay Region, encompassing an area of around 21,000 ha. This will be done through the:

  • expansion and construction of new sewerage facilities in low-income settlements;
  • reducing of pollution of the rivers crossing the Panama metropolitan area;
  • expansion of city sewerage pipe networks;
  • installation of new household connections for up to 12,300 households; and,
  • construction of a secondary water treatment plant and pumping station.
In all, around 1.2 million will benefit from the project.
