The aims of the project are to extend the national grid to rural areas to provide the predominantly rural population of Niassa Province access to electricity. The northern provinces of the country, including Niassa, are the least-served in terms of electrical services, with access rates less than 8%. The project will enable about 35,000 subscribers and 104,000 of the population in Koamba, Palama and Namuno to be connected to modern electricity services. This will have a significant impact on improving living conditions and boosting the quality of social services in the area.
