The project will rehabilitate 94 km of the Niamey–Ouallum road in the Tillaberi Region in the southwest, which is the first portion of a 300 km national road that links the capital city Niamey with the Malian border. This earth-surfaced road has deteriorated substantially and is impassable during the rainy season. Works will therefore include:
- paving the road with an all-weather standard surface;
- construction of culverts and ducts to prevent flooding; and
- construction of four new feeder roads, totaling 4.74 km, which will link to the renovated road, will be constructed to ease isolation in surrounding villages.
