This project aims to assist the Tanzania Airport Authority in its plans to upgrade Mwanza Airport to international standards and thereby boost economic activity in the region. The airport is located near Lake Victoria and the world- famous Serengeti National Park and is a hub for air transport serving neighboring countries. Upgrading works will include the construction of taxiways and aprons, together with a new passenger terminal and control tower. It is anticipated that the re-constructed airport will increase fish exports and generate a considerable amount of foreign exchange from wildlife and gaming activities, as well as from conventional tourism.
