The proposed project entails the construction and equipment for the 12.7 km western section of Mumbai Metro Line 5 (MML5) between Kapurbawadi (in Thane) and Dhamankar Naka (in Bhiwandi). MML5 is an elevated metro rail and will have its own train depot for operation, storage and maintenance. The grant is a cost sharing contribution for the implementation of the Project (Loan 15826). The project and the Grant were approved by motion on 29 April 2024 Package n°34 - Decision N° 2 (Q2-04-24).
