The project consists of a major outfall drain and a comprehensive drainage system in Indus Basin and Sindh Province, and includes the following works:
- provision of surface drainage on 516,000 ha of cultivable land;
- provision of sub-surface drainage works on about 392,000 ha;
- removal of excess water and salt out of the area;
- improvement in irrigation and on-farm water management;
- institutional improvements to insure operation and maintenance;
- project monitoring and evaluation; and
- provision of consultancy services and training.
