The project aims to restore Korle Lagoon and correct the capital Accra’s drainage and flooding problems. Activities will include:
- construction of new wastewater disposal system, sewage treatment plants and pumping stations;
- clearing and dredging of the Korle Lagoon to remove silt and prevent flooding;
- installation of a 1.5-km outlet pipe to enable the lagoon to empty into the sea more rapidly; and
- rehabilitation of polluted shore areas.
