Project works will take place near the Somali regional state, which stretches from the town of Jijiga and extends 170 km along the Somalian borders. The majority of the households in the region, comprising approximately 222,000 people, use either biomass or generate electricity via inefficient diesel-powered units.
To address this situation, 170 km of 132 kV transmission lines will be installed to link the Jijiga substation to Degehabur town, where a substation will be constructed. A distribution network will also be built, including 186 km of street lighting. In addition to raising living standards, the project will enhance economic activities in the area, particularly those relating to agriculture.
