Jacqueville is situated in southern Côte d’Ivoire some 60 km west of the city of Abidja. Transport to the mainland requires crossing the Ebrie Lagoon via ferry, which is time-consuming and frequently unreliable. Government has therefore placed high priority on addressing these transportation constraints.
The project will construct a 766 m-long bridge connecting Jacqueville with Abidjan. Once complete, vehicle travel time will plummet from 1.4 hours to only around one minute, raising living standards of the coastal town considerably. The tourism sector, another important income-generator, will also receive a welcome boost from safer and swifter transport.
