This project will support a government strategy that seeks to increase the use of hydropower and reduce dependence on imported fuel. The project will build a hydropower plant on the Golan Gol River in the Mastuj Valley-Chitral District of the North Western Frontier Province.
Activities include construction of a diversion weir, installation of three hydropower generating units with a combined capacity of 106 MW, and provision of a 132 kV transmission line to connect the power station to the national grid. The new plant will provide cheaper and more reliable power supplies and increase service coverage to an additional 21% of the population.
