The program aims to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in developing countries. Its specific objectives are to strengthen national capacity to implement legal and regulatory components of strategies on diet, including recommendations on the marketing of foods and non-alcoholic beverages to children, strategies to reduce consumption of foods high in salt, sugar and fats, and physical activity recommended by the WHO in five countries in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda) and South Asia (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka).
