The project seeks to enhance access to reliable, affordable and sustainable energy products and services for rural populations in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan through the promotion of scalable, private sector-led business models. It is expected to directly benefit approximately more than 30,000 people in 40 villages through improved energy access which includes; public buildings, households and private sector. (75% of which are located in Tajikistan, and 25% are in Kyrgyzstan). • In Tajikistan, the installation of solar PV plants with 1,5kWt to 3kWt capacity range to provide public buildings and private enterprises access to hot water and electricity in 7 districts out of the targeted 15 districts in 4 provinces are almost completed. • In Kyrgyzstan, 11 public buildings were planned to receive solar water heaters, heat pumps and PV systems. The project has managed to supply equipment and install the solar hot water system in 3 out of 11 public buildings. • Activities such as the country assessment and valuation of the capacity of the targeted villages, legislation tasks, training are almost completed.
