The Egyptian Fertilizer Company is located in Ain Al-Sukhna in the industrial area near the Gulf of Suez. The company is presently undergoing a major expansion program expected to double its current capacity. This loan will help fund construction of a 1,200 tonnes/day (tbd) ammonia plant and a 1,750 tbd urea plant. It is anticipated that the improved capacity will generate substantial foreign currency savings through the replacement of imported fertilizers with locally produced product, and increase employment opportunities.
