The Administrative Department Logone-Chari is situated in Cameroon’s Far-North Province. Populated by around 400,000 people, the department’s primary economic activities include irrigated and rainfed agriculture, as well as livestock breeding and fisheries. In order to improve food security and reduce poverty in the area, the project will carry out in a number of activities, including:
- development of irrigation systems;
- construction of a dam at the Chouara River;
- providision micro-finance support to farmers; and
- construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure such as grain storage facilities, schools, animal vaccination parks and water supply systems.
