The 113 km-long Buga-Buenaventura Highway is one of five major corridors that handle more than 80% of Colombia’s exports. Government has therefore formulated measures to upgrade these stretches to facilitate the movement of goods, reduce travel time and cost and subsequently promote socio-economic development. The project will carry out the following:
- upgrading of a 59 km section of the highway connecting Loboguerro and Buenaventura;
- construction of an additional dual carriageway;
- construction of viaducts, concrete walls and embankments;
- installation of drainage works; and
- re-alignment of roadway to minimize impact of adverse environmental conditions.
