The project was designed to improveexisting facilities of the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport located near Belize City to meet the growing volume of traffic, to extend the existing route network and to ensure safety and adequate facilities and services for passengers. The project consists of the following:
- rehabilitation and extension of the existing runway;
- extension of existing parking apron;
- construction of pavements and roads for operations and pedestrian and cars traffic;
- procurement of two aircraft tugs;
- construction of new terminal and operations buildings;
- procurement and installation of air traffic control equipment;
- engineering services and project management; and,
- technical assistance.
