One of the country’s most crucial roads is the RN6, which connects Northern Madagascar with the rest of the country. A portion of the RN6, the 94.7 km-long Bekoratsaka–Boriziny Road, passes through areas endowed with enormous agricultural potential. The heavily-travelled earth road has degraded considerably, however, and is impassable during the rainy season.

The project will upgrade the road to a bituminous, all-weather surface. Additionally, three provisional bridges will be replaced with permanent ones. On completion, the improved road will facilitate the transport of outputs and livestock to markets, thereby boosting food security and household incomes.
